環境情報学府博士課程前期1年の中山穣さん（指導教員：三宅淳巳教授）が，平成23年11月15日～18日に沖縄県那覇市で開催された第4回エネルギー物質とその応用に
関する国際シンポジウム（The 4th International Symposium on Energetic Materials and their Applications: ISEM-2011）において，「The catalytic effect of copper oxide (II) for　oxidation of cellulose」なる論文題目で研究発表を行い，The Excellent Young Scientist Awardを受賞しました。

本論文は，再生可能エネルギーの有力な選択肢である木質系バイオマス製造プロセスにおけるハザードの抽出とプロセスリスクの把握を行い，特に熱分解時に混入する可能性のある酸化銅が反応機構に及ぼす触媒効果を解明したもので，安全かつ効率的なプロセス開発に資する情報を提供する研究として 高く評価されたことによるものです。
